Heralded for her “clear vibrant tone” (Opera Canada), Tamar Simon is an Armenian- Canadian soprano based in Montréal, Québec. She holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in music from the University of British Columbia. Tamar has over ten years of experience teaching voice in a variety of styles from classical to pop. When she is not teaching she has been featured in many leading roles including Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Musetta (La bohème), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) which she performed in Highlands Opera Studio 2021 production.
Tamar has sung as a soloist with Vancouver Opera, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, Toronto City Opera, and Burnaby Lyric Opera. Tamar has also been seen on international stages, including appearances as Zerlina (Don Giovanni) in Kona, Hawaii and as Calisto (La Calisto) in Sulmona, Italy. This year she sang the role of Clorinda (La Cenerentola) with the Lunenburg Academy of Music and reprised the same role later that summer with the Brott Opera Music Festival.
Tamar is a District Winner and an Encouragement Award Winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and she is a graduate of University of British Columbia’s Master of Music program. Tamar continued her vocal and art song studies in Austria after receiving the Johann Strauss Foundation Scholarship, which sponsored study at the Internationale Sommerakademie Mozarteum .
Praised for his “clarion tone” (Ludwig van Toronto) and “impressive vocal colour” (Opera Canada), Canadian-American baritone Geoffrey Schellenberg is recognized for the roles of Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Belcore (L’elisr d’amore), Marcello and Schaunard (La bohème), and Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia). He has recently been seen in productions with Vancouver Opera, Pacific Opera Victoria, Portland Opera, Calgary Opera, and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. A graduate of Portland Opera Resident Artist Program, Calgary Opera Emerging Artist Program, and Music Academy of the West, he is currently continuing his training with the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal. He is scheduled to appear as Baron Douphol in Opéra de Montréal’s upcoming production of La traviata.
Geoffrey has also become a frequent interpreter of oratorio, recently performing excerpts from Des Knaben Wunderhorn (Mahler) with l’Orchestre de l’Agora under the direction of Nicolas Ellis. Previously, he was seen as soloist in Vancouver Bach Choir’s performances of A Sea Symphony (Vaughan Williams) and Requiem (Fauré) as well as in the Messiah (Handel) with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra. He has also sung baritone solos in Requiem (Duruflé) with St. Philips Choir and in Wenceslas (Chilcott) with Jubilate Vocal Ensemble. Geoffrey was a winner of the 2020, 2019 and 2015 Western Canada District in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the platinum prize winner in the inaugural Vancouver International Music Competition, and a prize winner in the 2016 Canadian Opera Company Centre Stage Competition. He completed his master’s degree at the University of British Columbia, where he performed many roles including Eugene Onegin in Eugene Onegin, Conte Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, and Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

I am not a perfect singer, not a professional singer but I am a singer. I love singing and music and singing makes me fearless.I first wrote a review in November 2018, and I remain as steadfast in my admiration today as I was then. Melody and rhythm awaken the body, and the very act of learning to sing instils confidence and an undeniable sense of happiness.The highlight of my week is undoubtedly my singing and piano lessons, and I can say with absolute conviction that you will adore your time with Jordanne Erichsen and Express Voice Studio. Much has changed since 2018. After exploring various vocal coaches, singing instructors, and music teachers that year, I struggled to find someone who truly understood my needs. As a professional speaker and guide, my voice is my livelihood, and after an intense season, I found myself suffering from vocal fatigue—speaking became painful, and I was in dire need of expert guidance.It was then that I discovered Jordanne Erichsen, a remarkable teacher who immediately recognised what was required. With her expert instruction, working two to three times a week for four months, my voice not only recovered but flourished, growing stronger and more resilient. With Jordanne's guidance I was able to go from singing with tension and strain to singing with fluidity and support, all within a very short period of time. The newfound confidence I have in my voice is life-changing!

I love everything about my lessons with Ian! His approach is creative and scientific, he always strikes the right balance between challenging and reinforcing, adapting to his students' needs and goals. He is a kind soul, super sensitive and empathic, has a great personality and excellent relational skills which made me feel secure and comfortable quickly at the beginning of our lessons, even though I had zero experience in singing. I have taken songwriting, vocal classes & piano lessons with Verona for only 2 months and I have already seen an immense improvement in my songwriting skills, my vocabulary and understanding of singing + songwriting. Verona helps you understand what she’s saying by providing imagery & her own tactical experiences. She also offers vocal production & explains to you exactly what she’s doing so that you know for yourself and makes sure you really understand why what she’s teaching is so important! She’s mastered her craft and you can tell how much she truly loves teaching, and singing! Happy to have the pleasure of working with her. Truly recommend. I wouldn’t have gotten this far in my craft without her along side to help guide me!
I highly recommend Ian! I found my teacher Ian through express and I could not speak more highly of him! Ian's teaching is superb and has really pushed me to become the singer I want to be. His approach is technical and thorough while also being fun and super supportive. Ian is very encouraging, positive and patient, and has given me the resources to believe more fully in myself as a musician. He will help you to get your voice and your mindset where you want it to be. I highly recommend Ian and Express Voice Studio!

I absolutely LOVE Tylor. I started singing last May and I was super nervous about it. Singing is extremely personal and vulnerable, and for me it’s been so hard to feel comfortable enough to go to lessons because of how insecure I am about my voice. Once I summoned the courage to finally take lessons, I have to say that Tylor really went above and beyond to ensure I felt comfortable and safe.

Jordanne is great teacher! For the first time I contact her, I am very pleased. She took the time to truly understand what I needed. And, the first time I met her she made me feel so comfortable that I felt at ease to express myself. She made me do some exercise to see what my blocage was. Then gave me a routine, which is exactly what I needed. It have been only 3 courses but I can experience the change and improvement. And not only in singing and piano. I wasn’t aware of all the tension I use to have in my body. Now that I am conscious of that, I am able to relax my body and feel a deep connection.
