Individualized Training, Not a Fixed Curriculum.
The fastest way to improve as a singer is to develop the skill of self-analysis. No two bodies or voices function in the same way, which is why EXPRESS Voice Studio does not follow a single, fixed curriculum.
Instead, our teachers work with each student to identify individual tension patterns, habitual movement, technical gaps, and artistic goals, then design a personalized vocal training plan specific to that student. Each lesson builds on what your voice and body actually need, rather than moving through pre-set exercises.
Specialized Teachers -> A Tailored Learning Experience
Every instructor at EXPRESS brings their own area of specialization. Some focus on contemporary styles such as R&B, pop, rock, or vocal distortion. Others specialize in opera, musical theatre, classical technique, voice acting, music production, songwriting, voice acting or speech and vocal health. This range of expertise allows us to support a wide spectrum of musical goals.
JOIN THE EXPRESS COMMUNITY: LEARN FROM ARTISTS
We Match Our Students.
Because our teachers specialize in different techniques, styles, and outcomes, finding the right teacher matters.
EXPRESS Voice Studio operates with an active administrative and artistic matching process. Our team knows each instructor’s strengths, training background, and areas of expertise, and uses that knowledge to guide students toward the teacher best suited to their voice, goals, and learning style.
Whether a student wants to:
- Learn to sing with vocal distortion
- Develop a specific style such as R&B or opera
- Prepare for university auditions or entrance exams
- Build confidence for performance or recording
-> We place them with an instructor equipped to address those exact needs.
Our Mission
For decades, traditional music schools have relied on artists as their foundation, while compensating them at a fraction of the value they generate. In many institutional models, instructors are paid hourly wages that require them to teach long days for limited pay, leaving little time or energy to pursue their own artistic work.
As a result, many highly trained musicians have been forced into a difficult trade-off: teach continuously to survive, or step away from their art altogether. This structure has not failed because artists lack discipline or ambition, but because their labor has historically been undervalued within educational systems.
At EXPRESS Voice Studio, our mission is to challenge this legacy. We believe artists deserve compensation that reflects their expertise and contribution, and the freedom to remain active creators, not just service providers. When artists are fairly supported, they are able to sustain their craft, continue evolving, and bring richer experience into the cultural world.
Supporting artists in this way is not only an ethical choice, it is essential to the future of music education. This belief defines EXPRESS Voice Studio.
MEET The Founder
Founded by Jordanne Erichsen in 2018, Express Voice Studio is a vocal school originally located in Montreal, QC and now established in both Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto, Canada. During her own training in opera, Jordanne recognized the often frustrating and painfully slow progression singers face throughout vocal training. After working with numerous accomplished singers across North America, Jordanne discovered the work of D.M.A Michael Warren’s NYC Studio, one of the top 10 vocal coaches in NYC for opera, broadway, pop, acting voice, and speech. She then went on to train in body mapping and Alexander Technique. Through these experiences she realized the key to unprecedented speeds of vocal improvement: A combination of practical exercises in place of abstract metaphors and an emphasis on body awareness including understanding how you can re-coordinate even the most ingrained habits in the body.
Having successfully eradicated severe vocal tension and discomfort in her own singing, Jordanne passionately dedicated herself to connecting other singers with teachers who could help them achieve the same result she had found: complete vocal freedom, where singing feels like absolutely nothing. Jordanne has carefully chosen each voice teacher at Express Voice Studio based on their experience in these areas. This is a singing school, a voice acting school, a community of vocalists of all levels, and a training ground for all things voice related.
So, What makes a great voice teacher?
In our opinion, students should look for the following:
– Success acquiring roles and gigs in their field
– Body mapping. Alexander Technique, Linklater, or Feldenkrais training
– The ability to tailor their teaching style to a student’s unique tensions
– Previous vocal health issues or vocal technique issues which they have overcome, and thus understand how to coach others through the same challenges
– A uniqueness factor- they are inspiring, they are original, they are artists.

Do I need experience to take lessons?
Not at all! We welcome complete beginners, hobbyists, and professional artists alike. Our instructors tailor lessons to your level, background, and goals. From your first lesson, you’ll receive personalized guidance to help you develop strong technique, confidence, and artistic expression at your own pace.
How are teachers matched with students?
We personally match every student with a teacher who aligns with their goals, genre preferences, and learning style. This helps us ensure you’re paired with the right mentor—whether you’re training for auditions, improving vocal health, or developing your sound as a songwriter or producer.
What ages do you teach?
We teach kids ages 8+ (with some exceptions), adults and teens of all levels. While our community primarily focuses on adult learning, some teachers also accept younger students on a case-by-case basis, particularly for beginner piano, singing, or drum lessons.
